NewsFflam festival is cancelledThe Fflam Festival has been completely cancelled for 2007, it has been announced today (August 2). The event was due to take place earlier in the summer (July 13-15) in Swansea, but was postponed due bad weather, making it impossible for organisers to set the site up in time. However the festival, which was due to be headlined by Manic Street Preachers, Keane and Placebo, has now been called off completely. "It is with great regret that we confirm the cancellation of the Fflam Festival for 2007," explained organisers in a statement. "After the initial postponement due to torrential weather conditions, we have made every possible effort to try and secure a new date for the festival this summer. Unfortunately, we cannot find a date that suits all parties and due to artist availability, we are not in a position to deliver the brilliant line-up of bands we always intended if we go ahead." They added they were giving up on 2007, but would look to stage the festival next year. "At this stage, we are left with no option but to cancel the festival for 2007 and put all our efforts into making it a huge success in 2008," they explained. "We would like to thank all the people in the local community who have stuck by us and supported us throughout the past couple of months. For those who bought tickets, full refunds will be available from point of purchase." The Nice Boys headline Club NME LA The Nice Boys headlined Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (July 25). The Portland quartet played a lively set filled with three-part harmonies and '70s-style guitar riffs while the crowd cheered and sang along. Meanwhile, Australian punk legends The Saints were forced to cancel their first LA show in 20 years due to visa troubles. Taking their slot were the lively LA seven-piece Jail Weddings. Resident DJ Dia spun a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the sets. Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night. Next Wednesday (August 1), Great Glass Elevator and Houseguest are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture. |
